Palmdale to Big Bear Lake is the 6th stage of the race. After a cruise through the historic Sierra Highway, and the Mountain High Ski area, the racers begin the 12 mile climb to the 7,000 foot summit. They will then descend into Wrightwood and over Highway 138. The route will then once again go vertical as it passes through Crestline and Lake Arrowhead, and then onto the Rim of the World Highway. Entering the Big Bear area, the riders will take the northern route around Big Bear Lake and then tackle the last ascent to the finish at a more than 7,000-foot elevation at the Snow Summit ski area.
Stage 7 starts in Ontario which is only 1 hour and 20 minutes away from Big Bear Lake. It is the perfect opportunity to stay the night in Big Bear Lake after watching the Climb and still have enough time to head down for the start of Stage 7.
