The 1st Annual Big Bear MX Grand Prix by O’NEAL is here from August 21st to August 24th! This motocross event is the culmination of six years of planning and excitement between motocross race promoters, Swapmoto Race Series, and the team at Big Bear Mountain Resort.
Racers ready your bikes, it’s time for the MX Grand Prix! We are bringing our roots of motocross to the course, with designs that include several jumps and berm features, to a unique layout utilizing the elevation, existing ski runs, and fire roads for an adrenaline fueled race!
There will be race classes for riders from 5 years old, classes up to 60+ years old with different skill levels, and even pro classes.
Spectating will happen from the patio deck, along with the food and beverage services that the mountain accommodates.
Sponsors will have products for demo and sale, plus inaugural event merchandise.
Racer check-in day is Thursday, August 21, followed by practice on Friday, August 22. Races will be held on Saturday, August 23 and Sunday, August 24.
The track will consist of a motocross section, having jumps and berms plus a finish line jump and overhead truss like SX. We will use the massive elevation and existing ski runs and fire roads to provide a really fun off-road loop. There will likely be some very technical sections for pros only and even some single-track opportunities.
Our goal is to make the loop approximately three miles long on the limited space we will use at Bear Mountain. The course will get plenty of water as there is snowmaking equipment every 100′ so visibility will be prime. Races will be timed around 40 minutes for lots of action and a lifetime of bench racing stories. Custom trophies will be awarded to top finishers and there will be unique collector apparel merchandise for this first ever event made by O’NEAL.
The deck will have all your favorite food and beverages that you are used to enjoying in the winter season and will provide a unique viewing position for all the spectators. We will also have rider support and sponsors showcasing products, doing demos and selling items.
It’s going to be a vibe hanging out on the deck of a ski resort but watching motorcycles race by! We are working on a few other surprises as well. All pits and people with motorcycles will be parking on site at Bear Mountain. All spectators will park offsite but a shuttle service will be provided to transport everyone to and from.

The group of race promoters has been putting on events collectively for over 20 years. Currently, they put on 23 motocross events per year, mostly in Southern California but also in Illinois and Alabama.
This one-off motorcycle event will take place on the bottom section of Bear Mountain from August 21-24, 2025. There will be race classes for riders from 5 years old, classes up to 60+ years old with different skill levels, and even pro classes.
