Big Bear is a fantastic place to visit year-round, but the specific activities you can enjoy will depend on when you decide to make your way here.
In the summer, Big Bear Lake is the ultimate outdoor destination. You and your guests can spend joyful hours in the sunshine and cool water of the lake. Swimming, trout and bass fishing, kayaking, canoeing, jet skiing, and boating are all popular pastimes on Big Bear Lake. Begin by purchasing a fishing permit and a boating permit from one of the many local marinas, such as Big Bear Marina, Pine Knot Marina, or Holloway’s Marina.
At these marinas, you can also rent equipment and charter boats—even replica pirate ships like the Time Bandit or old-fashioned paddlewheel boats like the Big Bear Queen or the Miss Liberty—for fishing, sightseeing, and private events. Parasail charters are also available at Pine Knot Marina.
Near the lake, there are a number of delectable restaurants and charming boutiques. The Village is the main hub for dining and shopping, with eateries like Peppercorn Grill, Sweet Basil Bistro, and 572 Social Kitchen and Lounge.
