Adventure Tours

Big Bear is full of adventure and excitement, from hiking and mountain biking to horseback riding and more. The company offer tours on their zipline course – a nine-run mountain zipline that will have you speeding across beautiful mountain views at up to 35 miles per hour! When there’s snow on the ground, join them for a multi-terrain snowshoe tour through Big Bear’s ponderosa pines and other mountain scenery. Another crowd pleaser is the Segway tour of the area that takes you through town and the surrounding forest on a guided tour. Tours are two hours or longer, depending on the activity you choose.

Spa Day

You planned a vacation to Big Bear with relaxation in mind. Relax with a massage or other spa treatment. There are several companies in the area that have a romantic couple’s massage package. Choose from head massage, foot reflexology, aromatherapy, hot stones and more. Other services may include body wraps or scrubs, manicures, pedicures, and more. Some even offer men’s services that cater to their unique needs.

Fat Tire Biking

Big Bear has beautiful outdoor scenery – it’s one of the reasons you came – including snow-capped mountains, pine forests, and wide-open spaces. This activity is a great way to continue your outdoor exercise in the winter months when there’s snow on the ground. Spot local wildlife in their natural habitat while you stretch your legs and get a breath of fresh air. Horseback Ride

Venture out into the beautiful mountain scenery on horseback. Take a private horseback ride during the day, or you can opt for the breathtaking views of Big Bear Valley at sunset. Baldwin Lake Stables offers these rides and others that will give you a tour of the area, including locales like the Big Bear Valley, the Pacific Crest Trail, and parts of the vast Mojave Desert. For longer rides, you can bring lunch with you and stop to enjoy it before heading back to your accommodations.

Joshua Tree National Park

This destination that’s only 1.5 hours from Big Bear can transport you to a whole new world. The greenery of the national forest surrounding Big Bear turns into a mix of greenery and desert landscape the more you travel west away from Big Bear. The unique environment of the park includes parts of two different deserts, the Mojave Desert – characterized by extreme heat in the summer and extreme cold in the winter, and the Lower Colorado Desert, which boasts two rainy seasons and only extreme heat in the summertime.

Wine Tasting

There are a number of wineries all throughout California that produce some of the best wines in the U.S., and Big Bear has one of them. Barrel 33 is located right in Big Bear and offers a full list of reds and whites, plus ales, hard cider, hard seltzer, and more. They also have a selection of food pairings. Come for a tasting during your Big Bear President’s Day weekend and take your favorite or favorites back to your accommodations to pair with your next homemade meal.
