Horseback Ride

Saddle up for a ride through the snow-covered beauty if Big Bear with Baldwin Lake Stables. The activity is often a unique vacation experience for many and is bound to keep everyone engaged as they learn to navigate and control the horse – potentially through snow – for a serene ride. Take a ride through Big Bear Valley with a one-, two-, or three-hour trip. Tours include Big Bear Valley, the Pacific Crest Trail, and various parts of the Mojave Desert. Book a sunset ride for a view of the sun sinking below the mountains. For the longer rides, make sure you pack a picnic.

Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain

The Alpine Slide at Big Bear Magic Mountain is open year-round and one of the best places to visit in Big Bear! Enjoy a no-fail way to entertain the entire group. The chair lift to the top offers a stunning view of the area. At the top, prepare for an unforgettable ride down the area’s only authentic bobsled experience. Sleds are individually controlled so you can go as slow or as fast as you like down your choice of two separate quarter-mile long cement tracks. Negotiate high banking turns that become straightaways that will have you cruising as fast as you want and get your adrenaline pumping by the time you reach the bottom. Riders must be at least 36” tall to ride, and children under 48” tall must ride with an adult age 18 or older. Hours vary by season and the attraction may be closed due to weather conditions.

Big Bear SnowPlay

Snow tubing is in full swing by the January holiday. Slide down man-made and/or nature’s white powder for a fun and unique snow experience. Tubes are single-person, but riders 36”-42” must ride in the lap of an adult 18 years or older. Ride down the hill, then board the “Magic Carpet” – a slowly creeping conveyor belt tunnel that brings tubes and riders to the top for another run. If the weekend is part of your trip, stop by on Friday or Saturday for special glow tubing, featuring red, blue, green, and black light. No matter when you come, general admission is $40 and a “small child ticket” for guests 36”-42” is $25. One-on-one adult supervision per small child is required. Children under 36” tall and pregnant guests are not permitted past the Snow Play gate. Cash only.

Skiing & Snowboarding

Big Bear is a small town with a big draw: winter sports. The two major ski resorts of Big Bear – Snow Summit and Big Bear Mountain Resort – are open and ready for you to enjoy speeding down the slopes. Take a lesson or show off your skills on the terrain parks.
