Boo at the Zoo
Plan Your Visit
Get ready for a spooky good time at Boo at the Zoo! Kids and adults can dress up in their favorite costumes and trick-or-treat at the Big Bear Alpine Zoo. You can also meet the zoo’s animals along the way. It’s a fun Halloween morning for the whole family.
Boo at the Zoo takes place on Halloween, Saturday, October 31, 2026. The event runs from 10 AM to 3 PM at the Big Bear Alpine Zoo in Big Bear Lake.
What to Expect
Boo at the Zoo mixes Halloween fun with a close look at Big Bear’s wildlife. Walk through the zoo, say hello to the animals, and collect treats as you go. Kids will love showing off their costumes, and grown-ups are welcome to join the fun too.
The zoo is home to animals that can’t return to the wild. A visit is a great way to learn about the wildlife of the San Bernardino Mountains.
Costumes and Trick-or-Treating
Children and adults are welcome to wear costumes. Choose something comfortable that lets you walk around the zoo easily. Quiet costumes are best, since loud noises can startle the animals.
Bring a bag or bucket for your treats. Trick-or-treating is part of the fun at Boo at the Zoo.
Arrive early to beat the crowds and have plenty of time with the animals. Wear layers, because mountain mornings in late October can be chilly. Comfortable shoes help too, since you will do a lot of walking.
Want to make a weekend of it? Book a cabin with Big Bear Vacations. Then, keep the Halloween fun going in the evening in The Village.
