This April, Big Bear goes dark! Dark Sky Week 2026 runs April 13th through 20th, as Big Bear’s Dark Sky Initiative joins Dark Sky International’s annual sustainability campaign to celebrate and protect our incredible night sky. Join the community for amazing activities and events that support local conservation and bring people together under the stars.
Dark nights sustain critical wildlife ecosystems, strengthen community well-being, enable scientific discovery, and preserve shared cultural traditions. Big Bear Lake’s high altitude and clear mountain skies make it one of the best places in Southern California to experience the wonder of a truly dark night sky.
