Look to the stars! The Big Bear Valley Astronomical Society brings Sidewalk Astronomy to Big Bear Village on select evenings throughout 2026. Peer through powerful telescopes to view stars, planets, and more in Big Bear’s incredible dark mountain sky — all for free right in the heart of the Village!

Sidewalk Astronomy in Big Bear Village is one of the most unique and memorable free activities you can enjoy during your Big Bear vacation. Big Bear Lake sits at an elevation of 6,700 feet with minimal light pollution, making it one of the best stargazing destinations in all of Southern California. The Big Bear Valley Astronomical Society sets up near the entrance of Barrel 33 on Village Drive, making it easy to combine a night of stargazing with dinner, drinks, and a stroll through the Village.

Whether you are a seasoned astronomer or simply someone who loves gazing up at a sky full of stars, Sidewalk Astronomy delivers a truly magical Big Bear experience for all ages. Bring the whole family and prepare to be amazed by what you can see through a telescope high up in the Big Bear mountains!
