ANNUAL “SPIRITS OF THE WEST”
CELEBRATES NATIONAL DAY OF THE COWBOY
Featuring Action Gunfighters and the famous “Doo Wah Riders”
Big Bear Lake, CA — The annual Spirits of the West is an action-packed day of “Wild West”
fun. Created to celebrate the National Day of the Cowboy and Big Bear’s rich western history,
the festivities include the Temecula Action Gunfighters, two bands, spirit flights and sampling,
market vendors, zany contests and the Kids Fun Zone.
Big Bear Valley has a colorful history of cattle ranching dating back to the mid 1800’s. Spirits
of the West celebrates a simpler time, when the Valley’s lush meadows and crystal-clear streams
were home to 1000’s of heads of cattle driven and guarded by some of the West’s toughest
cowboys. In keeping with the mission of the National Day of the Cowboy, the festival is
dedicated to the preservation of America’s Cowboy & Cowgirl heritage.
Spirits of the West invites’ families, locals and visitors to celebrate Big Bear’s heritage under the
very same pines that the Valley’s infamous cowboys and cattle enjoyed so many years ago.
Entertainment includes four reenactment shows by the Temecula Action Gunfighters. Themed
contests for both adult and children feature ‘cattle roping’, quick draw with a watery twist, and
horseshoe tossing. The Kids Zone offers a bounce house, Western arts & crafts, face painting
and balloon artist. Music throughout the day includes Southern Spirit and the Doo Wah Riders,
known for their high energy and awesome showmanship. The Doo Wah Riders are one of
Southern California’s top Country bands and often perform in Downtown Disney and Knott’s
Berry Farm.
Wyatt’s Grill & Saloon will be open during the festivities serving a special menu. A full bar
includes Whiskey and Tequila sampling flights. Purchase a flight of five great whiskeys or
tequila to sample and take home a bottle of your choice.
Admission is FREE. Gates opens at 2:00 p.m. and the fun continues through 11:00 p.m.
Spirits of the West will take place at the Convention Center at Big Bear Lake, 42900 Big Bear
Blvd., Big Bear Lake, CA .
