The Village Tree Lighting Ceremony

Kick off the holiday season at the annual Christmas Tree Lighting in The Village! Join your neighbors at Christmas Tree Corner, at the corner of Village Drive and Pine Knot Avenue. Say hello to Santa and Mrs. Claus, and watch The Village light up for the season.

This year’s lineup features all your favorite classic Christmas songs, plus a few new ones. Talented vocalists will take the stage, and dazzling dance performances will round out the show. The City of Big Bear Lake hosts the ceremony, and it’s a favorite tradition for locals and visitors alike.

What to Expect

Last year’s ceremony ran from 4:30 to 7 PM, and admission was free. The evening started with a Christmas countdown, with games and contests with prizes. Live holiday music followed, leading up to the big tree lighting countdown with city council members, Santa, and Mrs. Claus. Families lined up for photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus afterward.

The City hasn’t announced the 2026 schedule yet. Expect a similar evening, and check back for exact times and performers as the date gets closer.

Parking and Getting Around

The Village gets busy on tree lighting night, so plan ahead. Last year, several streets around The Village closed to traffic for the event. Public parking was available in the Bartlett, Knickerbocker, Pennsylvania, Cottage, and Indian Village lots. A free Big Bear Trolley also ran to the Knickerbocker lot. The City will share 2026 parking and closure details closer to the event.

Bundle up, because evenings in Big Bear get chilly in late November. Arrive early to find a good spot near the tree. Then, enjoy a stroll through The Village’s shops and restaurants before or after the ceremony.
