Every summer solstice, the streets of Big Bear Lake come alive with sound, rhythm, and celebration. Make Music Big Bear returns on June 21 for its fifth year, turning the Village into one giant, all-day jam session. Inspired by the global Make Music Day movement, this Big Bear music festival is all about music performed by anyone and enjoyed by everyone – for free.
For Music Lovers and Makers
This event is for everyone. Whether you’re a performer, a listener, or someone who just loves good vibes, you are invited. Expect jazz trios, indie bands, church choirs, drummers, violinists, and acoustic solo acts. No matter your age or skill level, if you can hum a tune, strum a chord, or belt a chorus, you have a place here.
Musicians are scattered throughout the Village, playing everything from bluegrass to pop covers to original songs. Even first-time performers are welcome to sign up for a slot at the Open Mic, where new acts take the stage every 30 minutes. It is the kind of day where you can be walking to lunch and suddenly hear your new favorite band playing outside a coffee shop.
Where the Music Lives
From 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Big Bear Village turns into one long stage. Over 15 venues will host 75+ musicians, from restaurants like Oakside, Whiskey Daves, and Nottinghams, to shops like Copper Q, A Christmas Store N More, and even real estate patios. Everywhere you turn, someone’s playing live music, from sidewalks to patios and courtyards to street corners.
There’s also street-style busking, where musicians simply post up and perform. It adds a fun, unpredictable energy to the day and gives visitors a chance to hear something fresh around every corner.
