Directions to Big Bear Lake
You’ll find there are three routes to travel when vacationing
to the Big Bear Lake area. We advise you to select a route in
advance and check the current weather and road conditions before
departing. Please remember to always carry chains in your vehicle
when traveling to Big Bear Lake and the mountain region during
the winter season.
Hwy 38 through Redlands is a beautiful scenic highway and
is typically the least congested. The road is also wider and
less windy than the other routes.
Hwy 18 through Lucerne Valley receives less snowfall during
winter storms and has the least amount of mountain driving coming
through the desert areas.
Hwy 18 through Lake Arrowhead is a little bit longer but
will allow you to travel up and avoid the one-way commuter traffic
currently only being allowed on Hwy
330 / Hwy 18 through Running Springs (through Highland), however,
this route is typically more congested on weekends and busy
holidays. - More Directions
