You might enjoy an off-road tour with Big Bear Jeep Experience, which is a guided jeep tour. However, they set themselves apart; instead of sitting in the passenger seat, you are given a personal jeep to drive as you follow your guide around the local area. One has the choice of several different tours; for instance, one might enjoy taking the more kid-friendly Holcomb Valley mining tour, where kids will get the chance to be miners themselves for a time. If you find yourself a more adventurous type, show off your skill on the more advanced rock crawling tours. Each tour will take you to see breathtaking sights and includes a knowledgeable guide, personal jeep, fuel, snacks, and beverages.
If you are looking for something a bit unique and want to see as much of the lake and forest as possible, then head on over to Helicopter Big Bear! Here you can enjoy your choice of 10 different flights and tours ranging from a quick 7-minute birds-eye trip to a 45-minute journey as you explore amongst the birds. You’ll see many landmarks and points of interest as you journey through the skies, including a variety of mountain lakes, the Mojave Desert, the San Gorgonio Mountain range, and the Santa Ana Canyon.
If you are looking for an adventure while exploring the city and surrounding area, make sure you check out The Urban Adventure Quest! This 1.5-hour walking tour will have you exploring the village as you use your smartphone as a guide and solve various clues and complete challenges; all of this as you learn more about the local history and facts about our beautiful mountain town.
Of course, if you are looking for a camping adventure, then head on over to the Big Bear Pirate Ship, which provides daily tours of the lake that gives us our name. Not only will you get to explore the lake upon a pirate ship, but you’ll enjoy live entertainment from their host of authentic pirates. For instance, you might like heading over to Action Zipline, where you can take on nine ziplines well as a suspension bridge. Enjoy the thrill of speed as the ziplines get progressively higher and faster. Not only do they offer zipline adventures, but you can also book a Segway tour where you can enjoy a scenic ride and explore the native plants and animals as you learn about our cozy town.
Of course, there is always the Downhill Bike Park at Big Bear Mountain Resort if you are looking for some fun and exercise. Enjoy the sprawling network of trails and various terrains perfect for a variety of different skill levels. You’ll find easy courses that are more scenic rides with a bit of speed, as well as advanced courses that will put your skills and technique to the test as you try to navigate both manmade obstacles as well as natural formations. This Park even gets to say they hold the National Off-Road Bicycle Association National Championship Series.
If one is looking for further thrills, they can always head on over to the Big Bear Rope course, where they will take on a variety of obstacles ranging from balancing upon ropes to crossing bridges to climbing through various hazards. In total, you will have to navigate through a staggering 37 obstacles that stretch 6,400 square feet and hosts two levels ranging from 12 to 35 feet in the air! If you are looking for speed instead, then head on over to the Big Bear Speedway, where you can race in full-featured SODI RT8 karts, which reach speeds of 30 mph. This 1/5th mile track will have you flying down straight away, screeching around turns, and winding down s-curves as you let your inner Earnhardt out.
