Snow Summit is one of California’s best ski resorts, with everything you need for an exciting day carving down the mountain. To help you get started, we’ve put together a little guide on how to best enjoy your ski trip to Big Bear’s Snow Summit.

Why Snow Summit?

Snow Summit features over 240 acres of snow-covered, skiable terrain with a vertical drop from peak to base of 1,200 feet. This much space allows Snow Summit to operate 27 different trails suitable for varying ability levels. 11 lifts will take you up the mountain and right up to the start of each trailhead. In total, expect to find 18 miles of skiable terrain you can carve up. Even if the season has been light on snow, the vast snowmaking system on the mountain converts 6,000 gallons of water into snow every minute. You will find all the fresh powder you need to smoothly glide across the mountain.

The Perfect Beginner’s Destination

Snow Summit features a variety of trails and even terrain parks designed to help new snow sports enthusiasts to build their skills on the mountain. With 10% of the trails designed for first-time beginners, 25% rated for those of low intermediate skill, and 40% intermediate, you can safely learn how to navigate your way down the mountain on skis or a snowboard without worry. Newer skiers will want to head to trails such as Skyline Creek or Cruiser before moving on to intermediate trails like Westridge Park, the longest run on Snow Summit. There’s even a beginner area with moving carpets to assist you up the hill. Advanced skiers will still be able to enjoy some daring trails, including double black diamonds The Wall and Olympic, which end at a short lift that brings you right back up the mountain for another run!

Unique Ski Sessions

In addition to skiing during the day, Snow Summit also features night skiing. Gigantic lights illuminate the trails, allowing you to enjoy the sport every day from 3:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

Do not fret if you have never skied before or need a few hours to get back into the routine of it. Snow Summit has an onsite gear store to help prepare you for a day on the slopes.
