If you’re looking for a shorter hike, consider the Castle Rock Trail. At only 2.6 miles long, this hike can be completed in under two hours. This trail has some elevation gain that makes for amazing views of the lake, and it is well marked and easy to follow. Another great short trail option is the Jenks Lake Trail. This trail is perfect if you are hiking with little kids, dogs, or simply want to go on an easy, leisurely hike. It has lots of parking, is well marked, and takes you on a loop around Jenks Lake giving you excellent views throughout the hike.
The outdoor fun in Big Bear doesn’t end with the hiking trails! In Big Bear in the summertime, the lake is the centerpiece of much of the action. Rent or charter a boat and head on the water for fun activities like fishing, wakeboarding, and waterskiing. You can also rent paddle boats or kayaking if you’d like to enjoy the water and get a bit of exercise.
