Chair Lifts

Year-round, the Snow Summit Sky Chair offers breathtaking views to its riders. Whether you’re bundled up and ready to ski down or heading up to hike the trails atop the mountain, you’ll take in – and maybe capture with your camera – stunning views in addition to the ones you’ll get at the top! At Bear Mountain, hop on Chair 9 and head to the top. Get a picture with the most popular bear statue in town with the scenic San Gorgonio Mountains behind you.

Boulder Bay Park

The locals have dubbed it the best overall spot for the best Big Bear mountian views. That also means a great view of the mountains and rock formations surrounding the lake. The free park not only has fabulous views, but it’s also a great spot for nature watching, fishing, and watching the sunset over the lake. Pack a picnic and enjoy it at a picnic table. There are also public restrooms available.

Castle Rock Trail

Located in Boulder Bay Park, of course it has a stunning view! The moderate, 1.5-mile trail boasts a breathtaking view of the mountains, trees, as well as Big Bear Lake below. Leash your pup and to take the hike along with you, or bike the route that is open year-round, weather permitting.

Cougar Crest Trail

You’ll have to work a little harder on this trail, meant for hikers with intermediate to advanced skills, but the payoff is worth the climb. The 2.5-mile trail is workout that results in amazing views. Catch your breath, only to have it taken away by the gorgeous mountaintop scenery. You’ll ease into the climb, as the first mile is a gentle uphill slope that increases in difficulty through the rest of the hike. If you keep going, you’ll continue on the famed Pacific Crest Trail, which boasts wide-open spaces and unforgettable views of Big Bear Lake and the surrounding mountains.

Pine Knot Trail

The moderately-challenging 6.9-mile out-and-back trail attracts hikers, horseback riders, and mountain bikers looking for beautiful mountain views. If you keep a steady pace, stop around the two-hour mark and admire the beautiful views of the mountains that you’ll no doubt want to make sure are posted to social media. You can even bring your pup along with you for some exercise. You’ll need an Adventure Pass, available for $5 at the Visitor Center.

Snow Summit

When it comes to great Big Bear mountain views, the lands of Snow Summit can’t seem to be beat. Whether it’s on the way up on the Snow Summit Sky Chair, or once you’re atop the mountain, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a view that’s not spectacular. Once you’re at the top, snap a pic overlooking the lake. Winter or summer, it’s a beautiful backdrop. Grab a seat on Chair 2 of Snow Summit, where you’ll not only get a beautiful view, but delicious food and drink as well. The mountaintop Hog on the Rocks or Skyline Taphouse each include a full bar and warm and delicious eats to make your trip up and down the mountain worth it.

Big Bear Lake

Who says you have to be on a mountain to get the best Big Bear views? Take a vessel out on the water of Big Bear Lake and pause for a moment to take in the stunning views all around you. If you don’t want to captain your own, take a relaxing ride on the Big Bear Queen, an old-fashioned paddle boat that takes you on a 90-minute narrated tour of the area. Other companies offer sunset cruises, too.
