Vacation in Big Bear where countless outdoor adventures are just waiting for your exploration.

Snow Sports

Vacation in Big Bear for a variety of winter snow sports. Skiers and snowboarders will enjoy the terrain park at Bear Mountain, as well as slopes ranging from green beginner to double black diamond. One could even head over to the Grizzly Ridge Tube Park and enjoy old fashioned tubing on one of three 300-foot-long tubing runs, complete with a conveyer belt to take you back up to the top to do it all over again. One could also head to Big Bear Snow Play, which offers the longest tubing run in Southern California. If you’re really looking for something special, check out their night tubing which is always a hit! If you’re truly looking for it to be a classic sledding outing, then head over to Aspen Glen Picnic Area or the Cougar Crest Trail, both of which offer sledding hills that can be enjoyed the old fashion way, or just enjoy the snow and build a snowman family. Or, perhaps, hit the horizontal trails on a pair of snowshoes or cross-country skis. If one is looking to do so with a guide, keep Action Tours in mind, as they offer a guided three-hour snowshoe tour that is fully customizable to each groups desires and expectations. At the end of the day, head back to your mountain chalet and warm up in the hot tub or curl up by the fireplace.

Water Sports

At 7 miles long, Big Bear Lake has plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the water. Enjoy the cool water by going for a good old-fashioned lake swim, or perhaps go for the tranquility of kayaking, canoeing, or paddle boarding. One could also indulge ones need for speed by renting a jet ski and fly through the water. Grab some fishing rods and fish from the dock at Boulder Bay Park which hosts a variety of species from rainbow trout to largemouth bass, or head out on a boat for your fresh catch of the day. One can even find several fishing charters around the area who are more than happy to take you out and show you all the best fishing spots, and even give you some pointers to ensure you catch that prize winner you were after. One could also head to Pleasure Point Marina and enjoy not only classic watersports but have a BBQ lakeside with the onsite grills and picnic tables! You’ll quickly realize that life revolves around the lake in the warm months and there are plenty of activities to be a part of!

Scenery

Sweeping mountain views and pine forests surround the crystal-clear lake. Hiking trails provide jaw dropping views. Red, orange, and yellow hues bring fall to life, and white snow stands stark against a bright blue sky in winter. To give a taste, one of the more popular trails is the Castle Rock Trail which encompasses a 2.7-mile out-and-back trail and which features a breathtaking view of the lake and the beautiful pine forest that the trail calls home. One could even make the most of the scenery by taking a jeep tour with one of the various companies in the area, such as Big Bear Jeep Experience. Enjoy everything from easy tours where you just take in the meadows, ridges, and canyons of the area to advanced trails where you will travel along the ascent of The Ledge, The Brain, and The Rock Garden! One could also head over to the Scenic Sky Chair at Big Bear Mountain Resort and enjoy Panoramic views of Big Bear Valley as you climb to 8,2000 feet. One can even find lunch there to really cement the outing as a memorable excursion. No matter the season, the unspoiled scenery surrounding Big Bear is a sight to behold.
